Earnest Alexander - President

Earnest is the key visionary of Youth Horizons and the primary spokesperson of the organization. He is a world-class vocalist and performs both locally and abroad as he advocates for the needs of today’s youth. Earnest holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in church music with an emphasis in applied voice from Friends University.

Janet Ashley - Office/Business Manager

Janet Ashley brings a wealth of experience to Youth Horizons: over 30 years as a pastor/counselor’s wife, working in various aspects of ministry, office management, and bookkeeping. She joined Youth Horizons in 2006. “I ask God daily to give me the ability to see all people through the eyes of my heart – with His compassion. I want to be a part of reaching at-risk children who may have hard and broken hearts and see them begin to soften and heal with Jesus’ love,” says Janet.

April Richey - Development Director

April joined the staff of Youth Horizons in March 2003 after mentoring through the program for a number of years. She enjoys watching youth smile when they accomplish something they never thought was possible and spending time with her active protege. She has a Bachelors of Music degree with emphasis in integrated marketing communications from Wichita State University.

Donnovan Karber - Mentoring Director

Donnovan Karber was blessed by growing up in a great family. He wants to share that with kids who have not had the same privilege. Donovan began working with Youth Horizons in 1997 as a house parent. Today, he serves as the director of mentoring.  He has a Bachelors of Science in business administration from Tabor College.

Rodney Bartlett - Mentoring Coach

Rodney worked as a house parent at the Martin House in 1997 and is excited to be part of the team at Youth Horizons again. This time around Rodney is working with the mentoring team recruiting new mentors and coaching existing mentoring matches. Before working at Youth Horizons, Rodney made his home in Vancouver, BC helping with a church plant and starting an internet marketing business.

Jimi Nickel - Mentoring Coach

Jimi joined the staff of Youth Horizons in 2006 as a mentoring coach after working in campus ministry at Ohio State University for four years. She has seen the value and impact of mentoring in her own life and others and desires to pass that on to at-risk youth in the Wichita community. Jimi has a Bachelors of Arts in political science from Kansas State University.

Tony Armstrong - Mentoring Coach

In January 2007, Tony had the honor and privilege to become the newest member of Youth Horizons’ staff. “God has really blessed me with the staff at YH. The staff at YH is a group that genuinely seeks and pursues God’s will. It is a pleasure to work with such a staff.” Tony has a Bachelors of Science in pastoral ministries with an emphasis in family ministry from Manhattan Christian College. He believes that “God has given me a passion to participate in His plan to bring people closer to Him through spiritual and personal growth. He has given me the opportunity at Youth Horizons.”

Paul Comegys - Residential Director

Paul Comegys has worked with kids in some manner for over 20 years. “God had put kids on my heart many years ago, and over the years has provided many different opportunities to work with youth.” Paul started with Youth Horizons as an employee in mid-November 2007, although he has been around the ministry of Youth Horizons since its inception.  “It has been a vision of my heart to see young people grow into successful and godly young adults.”

Dareld Karber - Ranch Manager

Dareld was raised in a Christian home where prayer, Bible reading, service, and obedience were emphasized. He graduated in 1968 with a BA from Tabor College, majoring in pre-med. He’s been married to Deborah for 41 years and have four grown sons. For a few years, Dareld and Debbie served as a resident couple in a 12-member children’s home in Akron, Ohio. He has ranched for 28 years in southwest Kansas and has served on the Farm Bureau Board, SW Kansas Irrigation Association Board, Tabor College Board, and church councils. Dareld came on staff as the Ranch Manager with Youth Horizons in Fall 2008.
